Class ProjectsLEAD class members work together to develop and implement a unique class project that benefits the community. Over the years, members have addressed mental health, literacy, access to indoor plumbing, assistance for the area's homeless and more. LEAD Class of 2023's project aimed to make positive change and to unite the Greater Williamsburg community by building Turquoise Tables, places where individuals and groups can meet in person to share a cup of coffee, a meal, stories and conversation. The class strived to bring back a sense of “community” in the community, to break down the barriers that set us apart and to create new opportunities for personal interactions. |
Past ClassesThe first LEAD class graduated in 1994 and over the past two decades, 400 diverse and accomplished individuals have officially completed the program. Graduation comes after an intensive 8-month program consisting of educational sessions, tours and candid conversations with community leaders. |
ALUMNI NETWORKLEAD alumni develop lasting personal relationships, gain an invaluable professional network, and support their community through service as elected officials, local volunteers and nonprofit board members. |
The LEADership Team consists of a 22-member operating board, a five-member executive committee, and several working committees.
All team members are volunteers and most are program alumni.
